| Are you giving anything to street performers? Maybe yes, maybe no – but what are they giving you? Are you noticing the things surrounding you when rushing between places and meetings? Maybe yes, maybe no – but a street performer’s meeting is always with you… Are you taking your time to enjoy what’s been given to you? Maybe yes, maybe no – but a street performer’s invitation is always an open one. These are the questions that gave us the idea to organise an "Urban Cultural Event" (UCE) in which the street concert would break with some deeply rooted assumptions. People passing by the the performing band, Oratnitza, were invited by our actors to enjoy the music while relaxing in a seat in our open air living room. They were offered a drink and got invited to attend their concert later in the evening. In order to underline the detachment of a street musician from actual begging, bystanders were offered money instead of being asked for it. |
