| Kottarashky (Asphalt Tango Records) has at a raging speed acquired the status of an ambassador of Bulgaria's recent musical innovation wave. In February 2010, Kottarashky's debut album "Opa Hey" made it to the 3rd place on the World Music Charts Europe. The late BBC presenter Charlie Gillett declared "Opa Hey" Album of the Month for March 2010 in his BBC show Charlie Gillett’s World of Music.
Shortly afterwards Charlie Gillettincluded Kottarashky’s "Mandra" in his last compilation world music Anywhere On This Road, released under Warner Classic & Jazz (WCJ), posthumously in June 2010. The compilation features work by Goran Bregovic, Lhasa and Sara Tavares.
Also Chetiri was included in a compilation CD, released under EastBlok Music, along with productions by Shazalakazoo and [dunkelbunt].
In March 2010, Kottarashky founded Kottarashky Live and began performing his music with a live band. Since then he’s performed on festivals' and clubs' stages in Bulgaria and abroad (Music Meeting Festival, The Netherlands; Oslo World Music Festival, Norway; A 38, Budapest and many more). |
